The sci-fi shop simulator *Probably Stolen* is currently breaking daily player records on Steam, even though its success was not foreseeable at first.
Probably Stolen, an indie shop simulator with a cyberpunk setting and pixel art, is currently the surprise hit on Steam. Released on October 28, 2026, it broke the 500,000 sales and currently ranks at 93 percent positive reviews.
At launch, over 80,000 people were playing it simultaneously on Steam. However, after setting a new record every day, by November 1 there were already
Profit Over Principles
With these words, the developers describe the underlying theme of Probably Stolen. You open a shop on a space station, but in this place riddled with corruption, survival is the name of the game. And under such circumstances, your own principles are often thrown out the window.
Weapons, chemicals, and stolen goods are just the beginning of your career as a dealer. But these goods also come with risks. Raids, inspections, and addictions make life difficult for you.
Control Is Better: Just because you don’t always strictly follow the law doesn’t mean it’s the Wild West here. You must estimate the value of your products, identify counterfeits, check their shelf life and integrity, and pass illegal goods on to the right customers
.
To do this, you must constantly negotiate with your customers and suppliers, spot inspectors and hostile augments, and pay your rent on time. The better you get at this, the faster you can expand your business.
Probably Stolen costs on Steam 20 euros. However, there’s a launch offer with a 10 percent discount through November 11, 2026.
The stars were aligned against us at first
Alex Nichiporchik, CEO of publisher tinyBuild, explained on X that Probably Stolen was initially developed by just one person. At the time, the game was still called Deepspace Emporium, but the Steam demo could only accommodate 28 players simultaneously.
tinyBuild believed in the game, however, and brought the development studio Questing Goose on board to revamp the entire visual style and polish the game design. This was followed by a new name—Probably Stolen—along with a new Steam page, and the result is one of the biggest surprise hits of the year.
