Atlantis Studio is delivering asymmetrical suspense for two players this October. Thanks to the built-in Friends Pass, only one person needs to buy the game.
Atlantis Studio has announced new details about its asymmetrical co-op horror game Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch. The game will be released on October 22 for the Nintendo Switch 2.
The team has now revealed that voice actor Troy Baker and award-winning composer Oscar Araujo (Castlevania: Lords of Shadow) are involved in the title.
Asymmetrical Horror: First-Person Perspective Meets Surveillance Cameras
Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch is a two-player game. One player ventures into the darkness from a first-person perspective, deep into a house that seems to be both watching its inhabitants and holding them captive. There, you must search for clues, decipher signs, and figure out what’s happening behind the walls before the Gloam catches up with you.
“The second player experiences the action from a different perspective,” the description states. “Using a network of cameras and tactical tools, they monitor and interpret the situation, give instructions, and issue warnings. They see things differently: Sometimes they know more. Sometimes they understand less.”
This discrepancy between the two perspectives is intended to create the tension in *Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch*. Accordingly, it’s not just about what you see yourselves, but how you interact with each other and communicate events to one another.
New Trailer Reveals the Gloam: Animation by Q-Games and Free Friends Pass
Meanwhile, a new video offers the most detailed look yet at the Gloam, the mysterious creature wreaking havoc here. Atlantis Studio collaborated on this with Kyoto-based Q-Games, the studio behind the Cloudly technology used in Ace Combat 8.
“The team contributed its animation expertise to bring the Gloam’s eerie presence to life. In addition, the trailer showcases more of the unique, asymmetrical horror experience for two players, which centers on communication, observation, and trust.”
Only one person needs to own the game to play. You can invite someone else to play using a free Friends Pass.
