The final DLC for Dave the Diver will be released for free in early 2027 and brings the underwater world of Subnautica 2 into the game. Dave and Bancho will encounter new sea creatures, discover the Proteus, and even come face-to-face with the legendary Leviathan.
At the Triple-i Showcase, the Dave the Diver studio Mintrocket announced a surprisingly obvious and perfectly fitting collaboration. The game’s final DLC, scheduled for release in early 2027, brings together the worlds of Subnautica 2 and Dave the Diver.
Two Underwater Worlds Collide
Although both games share deep-sea exploration as a core mechanic, they are stylistically at opposite ends of the spectrum—yet they still pair better than many other brands with which Dave the Diver has previously collaborated on crossover projects. These have included Balatro, Yakuza, Godzilla, and Guilty Gear, to name just a few.
The upcoming Subnautica 2 DLC is free and was developed in collaboration with the Subnautica 2 team at Unknown Worlds. It brings the ocean moon Proteus from Subnautica 2 into Dave the Diver and, after Dave and Bancho have discovered all kinds of sea creatures and their corresponding sushi recipes in this dimension, sends them on a journey to a new dimension to discover even more.
There, they’ll encounter the legendary Leviathan from Subnautica 2, but they’ll also make new friends and hopefully return home with many new discoveries under their belt. Jaeho Hwang, studio head at Mintrocket, said: “Both games take place underwater, but Subnautica takes a unique approach to underwater exploration. Collaborating with the Subnautica 2 team therefore gave us the chance to breathe new life into the Dave the Diver experience.“
Anthony Gallegos, Creative Director of Subnautica 2, added: “It’s clear that we really appreciate each other’s games, and the expansion is a tribute to both Dave the Diver and the Subnautica universe. Players have something special to look forward to.”
The Subnautica 2 x Dave the Diver crossover DLC is now available to add to your wishlist on Steam. Subnautica 2, which launched in Early Access this year, has been incredibly successful. It sold more than 5 million copies in less than a month and convinced publisher Krafton—which had been embroiled in a legal dispute with the studio’s founders prior to launch—to turn the game into a franchise IP.
