Heavy rain awaits you in Season 2, but some players are more afraid of the upcoming wipe.
Two weeks after Wardogs’ early access launch, we now know when Season 2 will begin. Developer Bulkhead recently released a first teaser that reveals not only the launch date but also a new feature.
Season 2 of Wardogs begins on October 15, 2026, and it’s going to get pretty wet. In the 30-second video, it’s raining cats and dogs:
With the season change comes a wipe
Exactly what awaits you in the second season of the military shooter is still a mystery. However, it has already been confirmed what you can expect when switching between seasons: a reset of your earned cash and your unlocks.
In Wardogs, there are two types of currency: cash and gold. You spend cash in matches on your loadout, including weapons, gear, and vehicles. Gold is the currency you use to purchase cosmetics. You earn it by exchanging cash stored in the bank for gold bars on the gold market.
Here’s what the in-game reset entails:
At the end of a major update cycle, your progress and cash will be reset. The date for such an update and the associated progress reset will be announced in advance. Any cash remaining at the end of the cycle will be automatically converted into gold bars.
However, cosmetics you’ve purchased on the Gold Market and season-exclusive items (via Wardogshub.gg).
In addition, each season according to Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer, “change the order of progression and introduce new weapons and vehicles.” Existing ones will be “phased out.”

“So all that leveling was for nothing?”
Meanwhile, the prospect of such a drastic wipe is dampening the spirits of many players. A reset like this also means that the time invested feels wasted, and not everyone is up for grinding their way back up from scratch. A look at the discussion on Steam under the Season 2 announcement paints a clear picture.
For user Laurizzzxxxccc, a reset for Season 2 is clearly coming too soon: “[…] In my opinion, it’s still too early for a reset. While those who play around the clock would level up quickly again, players with jobs or families—who can’t invest as much time—would be back at square one and would have almost no chance of catching up.”
With the start of the second season on October 15, the first season actually lasted just under a month. Brammer had already pointed this out announced on X at the end of August. In the same breath, however, he also made it clear that this could still change for future seasons. Developing new content and features is the top priority.
Another user named Scremified writes on Steam: “So was all that leveling for nothing?” and garners quite a bit of agreement. Further down, the user announces that they won’t be playing Wardogs anymore until the 1.0 release.
Other users are expressing similar concerns. MiCLegiT’, for example, demands: “DO NOT reset progress… Most players don’t have the time to grind enough to even reach Level 70 before the wipe… Give players the choice of whether they want a wipe or not.”
