The creators of Dead by Daylight have announced a game for 2027 that combines elements of Helldivers 2 and Deep Rock Galactic for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
During gamescom Opening Night Live, the creators of Dead by Daylight, Dead by Daylight, and Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade unveiled their most ambitious in-house project to date: the colorful sci-fi co-op shooter Exterminauts. The game will be released next year (2027) by Level Infinite in collaboration with TEAM SHOOTER & CREATIVE for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Here’s what to expect in Exterminauts
In Exterminauts, players take on the role of Exterminauts—interstellar workers who serve as a mix of pest control specialists, handymen, and first responders on the hostile planet Tian. The whole experience is somewhat reminiscent of Helldivers 2 or Deep Rock Galactic.
The gameplay takes teams from their orbital base into dangerous industrial environments where nature, machinery, and aggressive alien creatures collide. Under intense pressure, players must use specialized power tools and work as a team to repair critical infrastructure, eliminate alien threats, and complete side jobs before the situation spirals out of control. Successful work assignments yield valuable resources to gradually upgrade your equipment.
To combat the diverse alien species, the game features power tools that double as weapons, such as ice, electric, foam, and antigravity cannons. The dynamic combat system is complemented by movement elements like sliding and zip-lining, as well as powerful overclock abilities. According to the developers, the game centers on the unique setting of a galactic working class that keeps doing its job even when everything in the universe goes wrong.
