THQ Nordic is preparing for Early Access of this feudal Japan adventure. A new video now highlights the strategic combat.
THQ Nordic and developer Campfire Cabal released a new trailer for the CRPG Expeditions: Samurai this afternoon.
The video introduces the core features of the upcoming title, which takes you to medieval Japan during the turmoil of a civil war.
Gameplay Options, Release Date, and Co-op Mode
“The Sengoku period is drawing to a close and heading toward the climax of the conflict—the land is torn apart by brutal battles and catastrophic consequences for the population,” the description reads. “Here, not only will the fate of your crew be decided, but that of all of Japan.”
Expeditions: Samurai launches in Early Access on August 7, 2026, and offers you different ways to write your very own story, depending on your playstyle: “Choose the path through the shadows and use deception and camouflage to achieve your goal. Or boldly charge into the turn-based tactical battles with a daring assault and claim victory on the battlefield.”
By the way, you can play the game not only solo but also in a two-player co-op mode. Ahead of the Early Access launch, Campfire Cabal plans to publish a roadmap soon to outline what’s planned for the launch and future updates.
Historical Context and the Impact of Player Decisions
The role-playing game is based on real historical events and aims to offer you a complex and branching storyline as well as vivid characters. Time and again, you’ll be faced with life-and-death decisions that will test your resolve. Even the smallest choices can have far-reaching consequences for you, your ship’s crew, and the people of Japan.
