The release date for the Faye adventure God of War Laufey has been set. At the same time, a new game featuring Kratos is in the works—and it picks up directly where Laufey left off.

At San Diego Comic-Con, we got the answers many of you have been waiting for. Santa Monica Studio not only revealed the exact release date for *God of War: Laufey*, but also shared what’s next for Kratos.

When is God of War Laufey coming out?

The spin-off centered on Kratos’s late wife, Faye, has a final release date: God of War Laufey will be released onFebruary 16, 2027exclusively for PlayStation 5.

As you know, in the game you don’t play as Kratos, but as Faye. The story begins after her death and takes her to the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods. There, she must fight to ensure that the plans she left behind during her lifetime to protect Kratos and Atreus come to fruition.

This makes it clear that the adventure is closely intertwined with the events of the 2018 E God of WarE . However, it’s told from a completely new perspective, of course.

The Most Important Detail About the Next Kratos Game

The even bigger surprise came right after that on the Comic-Con stage: Creative Director Cory Barlog officially confirmed that the next full-fledged God of Warstarring Kratosis already in development.

The most exciting detail: The new Kratos game isn’t a standalone sequel, but rather picks up directly where the events of *God of War: Laufey* left off. So anyone who thought Faye’s journey through the Afterlife was just a little side story is wrong.

Barlog made it clear that everything Faye does in the Everywhen lays the groundwork for Kratos’ next move:

“Everything in the game is setting the stage for something that’s going to be absolutely fantastic.”

We won’t know exactly how long Faye’s journey through the Everywhen lasts—or where the next Kratos game is set in the timeline—until the Laufey spin-off is released next February at the earliest.

Santa Monica Studio hasn’t yet revealed an exact title, release window, or target platforms for the new Kratos adventure. Anyone who wants to understand Kratos’ future will find it hard to ignore Faye’s story.

What do you think of the announcement? Are you looking forward to stepping into Faye’s shoes, or would you rather wait for Kratos’ return? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
