Jimothy the raccoon has become an internet sensation in recent weeks. Wizards of the Coast is even giving the latest social media star his own lore entry for your next pen-and-paper game session.
Harambe, Knut the polar bear, Moo Deng, Timmy the whale… The internet reliably needs a new animal mascot every few months to boost its collective dopamine levels. With Jimothy the raccoon, the next viral animal has now spawned in social media feeds—one the internet can become hyper-obsessed with for two to three weeks before attention moves on.
This time, the creators of Dungeons & Dragons seized the opportunity surprisingly quickly:Wizards of the Coast has promptly transformed the phenomenon into a rules-compliant creature.
From viral hit to the D&D table
Jimothy owes his rise to fame online to a deformed spine:A genetic defect that causes him no pain but makes him appear unusually short, round as a ball, and compact. On Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms, the little guy skyrocketed to fame in no time.
Instead of simply letting the wave of attention fade away, the D&D developers created their own data sheet titled “Jimothy, Beloved Cryptid.” Theentryclassifies him as a tiny creature with a challenge rating of 1/4. Despite his modest size, Jimothy can take a surprising amount of damage, with 17 hit points and an armor class of 12.
His attributes also reflect the source material quite precisely:Dexterity (15) and Charisma (14) are among his greatest strengths, while Strength (5) and Intelligence (6) are modest.
Your PnP group will also encounter some very specific abilities:
- Compact Build:Thanks to his anatomy, he can squeeze through gaps as narrow as four inches without losing speed.
- Agile:He does not provoke opportunity attacks when moving out of an opponent’s range.
- Trash Throw and Bite:In melee, he nibbles at opponents’ legs (1d6+2 piercing damage). At range, he uses Trash Throw, dealing 1d4+2 bludgeoning damage and applying the “stinky” status to targets until his next turn.
- Cuteness Aura:When the effect recharges (Recharge 5–6), it triggers a Cuteness Aura within a 15-foot radius. Anyone who fails a Wisdom saving throw (DC 12) is considered charmed for one round.
- Dash:As a bonus action, he uses Dash to double his speed or vanish instantly into the shadows.
