Blizzard has officially unveiled Season 14. It kicks off on June 30, featuring a completely revamped Mythic mechanic, the long-awaited Solo Mode, and a free trial for the Warlock class.
For a long time, you’ve been wondering what lies ahead for Sanctuary after the fall of Mephisto. Now it’s out: Blizzard has unveiled Diablo 4 Season 14, dubbed the “Season of Death Awakening,” and the new season launches on all platforms on June 30.
Instead of a short transitional season like the last one, this time you’ll get the full package again: a new open-world mechanic, a fresh end boss, a solo mode that players have been requesting since launch, and a complete overhaul of Mythic items.

When does Season 14 start?
Season of Death Awakening begins on June 30, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in Germany. This also marks the end of Season 13; your characters there will move to the Eternal Realm as usual.
If you don’t want to wait until launch day: The accompanying Patch 3.1.0 will be available for pre-download starting June 25 at 7:00 PM on Battle.net, Xbox, and PlayStation.
Pandemonium Ruptures, Undead Dogs, and a New End-Game Boss
The new seasonal mechanic is Pandemonium Ruptures: arcane rifts that can open up anywhere in Sanctuary, but are particularly common in the Helltides. You kill the guardians, open a rift, and then have to keep it open for as long as possible. The longer you hold out, the better the loot.
Along with the rifts comes fresh cannon fodder: The new monster family “The Risen” includes Gravehounds, among others. When they die, they drop orbs that float toward a leader named Exarch and charge him up. If you intercept the orbs first, you can snatch them away from him—if you let them through, the fight becomes significantly more difficult.
The Realmwalkers are also back and appear in the more difficult Ruptures. If you defeat one, a portal opens to the Deathtoll Chamber, a small single-room dungeon with extra rewards. And there’s a new addition to the boss hunt: The Corrupted Reaper resides in the Pandemonium Threshold in Zarbinzet and, according to Blizzard, offers the best drop rates for Mythic Uniques in the entire game.

Mythic Uniques 3.0
The biggest change affects Mythic Uniques:Going forward, Mythic will no longer be a separate rarity tier, but rather an item quality. Any Unique can become a Mythic. You can transform any Unique into its Mythic variant using the Horadrim Cube or at the Jeweler; these items are always “inherited” and their Unique power increases by 30 percent.
It didn’t go entirely smoothly. During the public test on the PTR, the overhaul, according to Dotesports, caused quite a stir because it turns endgame buildcrafting on its head—a system that had previously relied heavily on a handful of particularly powerful Mythics.
Solo Self-Found and More Convenience
In addition, a feature is being introduced that many of you have been asking for since the release: Solo Self-Found (SSF) mode. SSF characters are purely Season heroes; they can neither trade nor play in groups, and they share chests, currency, and Paragon only with other SSF characters on your account.
Speaking of which: Towers and Leaderboards are finally leaving the beta phase in Season 14 and now offer cosmetic rewards, including new Halo cosmetics.
Important for group players: War Plans can now be synchronized within the party, so you no longer have to juggle different boards.
Try the Warlock for free—but with a catch
And yes, you can try out the Warlock class without paying—but it’s just a trial. From June 30 to July 7, a free trial is available on Battle.net, Xbox, and PlayStation, during which you can play the Warlock up to level 25.
If you want to continue playing after that, you’ll need the paid expansion *Lord of Hatred*, which originally introduced the class. On the bright side, you can keep playing your trial character right after purchase, so your progress won’t be lost.
Last but not least, there’s also a crossover event with *Overwatch*: Through the free Overwatch Reliquary, you can unlock various cosmetics using in-game currency you find, and Kiriko’s Fox Spirit awaits as a companion once you’re done. The really cool hero skins, however, will of course be available in the real-money item shop—similar to the WoW crossover from Season 13.
