X4: Foundationscan no longer be considered a new game—and yet it is in the midst of a second youth, or at least puberty. That’s because Egosoft has been working intensively on its space epic sandbox experience since at least 2025. In the major and free Update 9.0, titled Empire, the developers are giving numerous components a makeover: for example, balancing, technology, and visual quality.
