No sooner had the cow level been discovered than the next big secret in Diablo 4 was already waiting to be revealed.

Just a few days ago, one of the biggest secrets inDiablo 4was revealed:After a long, nerve-wracking search by the community, the infamous cow level is finally accessible.

But anyone who thought that marked the end of the absurd cattle scavenger hunt didn’t count on Blizzard. Players are already on the next trail, and this time it involves a creature of truly divine proportions.

The clues lie in the meat

If you defeat the Cow King in the newly discovered level, you’ll not only receive his crown but also multiple instances of the rare quest item “Prime Rib.”

Experienced mystery hunters among you know, of course: In Diablo 4, the true key is often hidden in the unassuming item descriptions. For instance, the Cow King’s crown refers to the boss as the “Hoof of Moophisto” in its flavor text, strongly suggesting that the Cow King serves an even higher power.

It becomes even clearer with the aforementioned Prime Ribs:The text describes the item as a “royal cut of beef, with perfect marbling, a majestic texture, and a regal taste.” The crucial clue follows immediately afterward: such a first-class cut is “a worthy offering for anyone, even a god.”

Fishing for the Cow God

The community, led by content creators like LoatheBurger, has already developed concrete theories. The most plausible one at the moment is:You have to use the meat as fishing bait to lure the mysterious Cow God.

Fishing was recently added to the game with the Lord of Hatred expansion and allows you to catch rare, legendary, or even unique fish in the waters of Sanctuary.

Several details support this theory:In a developer livestream prior to the release of Lord of Hatred, some Blizzard employees wore T-shirts featuring manatee motifs. This very monster—half fish, half cow—can also be seen on the in-game map off the coast of the new Skovos region.

The Hotline to MeFISHto

To take the absurdity to the extreme, Blizzard released abizarre promotional videofor a demonic toy fish named “MeFISHto”.

If you call the hotline shown in the video in real life, there are clear references to the Cow King. For many players, this is the final proof that the new fishing feature and the Cow God must be connected in some way.

Whether Moophisto can already be summoned in the current version of the expansion or if you’ll have to wait for further updates remains to be seen. In any case, the hunt for the Cow God has officially begun, and the sleuths among the fans are guaranteed not to rest until this mystery is fully solved.
