The development studio Pearl Abyss hasvia a blog postreleased a comprehensive roadmap and reveals, what you can expect over the next three months. And when we say comprehensive, we really mean extremely comprehensive.
Not only are there dozens of improvements on the way, but also completely new content. Among other things, the developers are working on the controls, which are currently one of the biggest points of criticism for many fans.
The Roadmap at a Glance
Here we reveal themost important planned updates through June 2026. You can find thecomplete overview on thesecond pageof this article.
New Content
Rematch: Crimson Desert’s boss enemies are cool, but what if you’re craving a rematch? That’s now taken care of, as you’ll be able to challenge these powerful foes again. Areas will also occasionally be reoccupied by enemies, which you’ll then have to reclaim.
Pearl Abyss also says that more combat-oriented content is already in the works. However, no further details are available yet.
Specialized Storage: To make management easier, there will be new specialized storage options that allow you to store your food and collected items more easily and use them more efficiently, such as by retrieving them directly for your activities. There will also be specialized storage for your clothing and quest items.
More: New clothing items, summonable mounts, corresponding armor pieces, and pets are coming to the game.
Improvements
New Abilities: Damiane and Oongka will gain abilities comparable to Force Palm and Axiom Force.
Wearing Clothing: You will be able to wear some clothing items that previously could only be collected or sold.
Controls: There will be new customization options for the controller, and the assignable buttons will be expanded to include the keyboard and mouse.
Graphics: The rendering of distant backgrounds and landscapes will be sharper and more realistic. Pearly Abyss notes that the accompanying update will be very large, but does not provide exact figures.
Additionally, the original soundtrack will be released soon, available for free on Steam as well as on the usual streaming services. That makes jogging on the treadmill feel just like a proper march through Pywel. You can find the complete overview of all announced updates on the next page of this article.
All Roadmap Content Through June 2026
New Content and Features
- Boss Rematches: The powerful bosses you encountered in Crimson Desert are waiting to challenge you once again. With boss rematches, you have the opportunity to fight each boss again, see how much you’ve improved, and further refine your own fighting style through different strategies and approaches.
- Re-conquest of Areas: Peace is fleeting, and the darkness does not retreat so easily. Remnants of the enemy are waiting for their chance to reclaim liberated areas. Drive out the forces that have retaken these places and continue to prove the strength of the Greymanes.
- Difficulty Levels: A difficulty selection option is being added so that everyone—from new Greymanes to experienced players—can enjoy the adventure at a level that suits them. You can choose between Easy, Normal, and Hard.
We’re also working on new combat-focused content—so stay tuned.
Character Gameplay Improvements
- New Abilities for Damiane and Oongka: We understand your feedback that Damiane and Oongka need abilities comparable to “Force Palm” and “Axiom Force.” To address this, both characters will receive new abilities that match these.
- Hide Weapons on the Back: There will be a new option that allows you to hide weapons on your character’s back, so that certain equipment items no longer disrupt immersion during combat.
- New Outfits: New outfits for characters will be added. Additionally, certain outfits that could previously only be sold or donated will be adjusted so that they can also be worn.
Quality-of-Life Improvements and Lifestyle Features
- New Specialized Storage
- Food Storage: There will be a new storage space for food, from which you can take ingredients directly for cooking.
When preparing meals, you can use ingredients from both the storage and your inventory.
- Wardrobe: A new storage for equipment such as headgear, armor, gloves, shoes, and capes will be added.
- Collectible Materials Storage: A new storage for collected materials will be introduced, from which you can directly use items for refinement and crafting (e.g., insects, stones, ores, etc.).
- Collection Storage: Another storage will be added where you can keep quest items, recipes, and other things collected on your journey.
- Food Storage: There will be a new storage space for food, from which you can take ingredients directly for cooking.
- Pets & Mounts: More summonable mounts and new pets will be added. In addition to existing horse equipment, special armor for other mounts is also planned.
System and Graphics Improvements
- UI Improvements: A setting for minimum font size will be added to improve readability. Since Crimson Desert supports 14 UI languages, full optimization will take some time, but we plan to introduce this feature early to make the gaming experience more enjoyable. We will also continue to improve various UI elements and QoL features, including the map, inventory, and housing.
- Control Improvements: We are carefully reviewing your feedback on the controls. To enhance the gameplay experience, we plan to add customization options for specific controller inputs. Additionally, the number of assignable keys for keyboard and mouse will be expanded.
- Improved rendering of distant landscapes: We’re working on making the rendering of distant backgrounds more realistic so you can enjoy the landscapes of Pywel even more intensely. Please note that the patch size may be slightly larger due to these improvements.
And for anyone who missed it: We’re releasing a Crimson Desert OST. It will be available for free on Steam and will also be released on major global music streaming platforms—so stay tuned!
When it comes to updates, Crimson Desert is already setting an incredible pace. So if there’s one studio that can implement all these changes in just three months, it’s Pearl Abyss.
