The rush for Hytale begins today with over a million fans expected. The developers recommend pre-downloading the launcher to avoid server chaos.

Hytale has developed an almost mythical aura. Since 2018, the ambitious voxel role-playing game has been on an emotional roller coaster ride. After the takeover and project cancellation by Riot Games, technical realignments, and the return to the founders, there is now some good news.

Just in time for the launch of Hytale in early access on January 13, 2026, it is clear that the financial future of the Minecraft-inspired sandbox game is on a foundation that many studios can only dream of.

Financial freedom until 2028

The history of Hytale is closely linked to the modding scene of Minecraft modding scene. After years of silence, the original founders bought back the project in November 2025. This independence is now paying off.

According to a post by lead developer Simon Collins-Laflamme on the X platform (formerly Twitter), pre-sales of the game via the company’s own website have already covered the development costs for the next two years.
Hytale is not intended to be a short-lived trend, but rather a platform that will grow over the years.
With a starting price of $20, this is a remarkable result. The team, which now consists of several dozen people, will be able to work on the game world of Orbis without pressure from external investors.

Preparation for the Hytale launch

However, interest is so enormous that the technical infrastructure behind Hytale is likely to be put to the test. Developer Hytale expects over a million players at launch. We at GlobalESportNews are also involved, as there were no pre-release test versions, so our review is based on the release conditions.

To avoid frustration due to overloaded servers and queues, the studio has issued an urgent recommendation: players should install the launcher in advance and create an account before the masses access it simultaneously. This will help the team significantly reduce the stress on the servers on the first day, so that you can start your adventure as smoothly as possible.
