Activision Blizzard names a date for the next Call of Duty title “Vanguard”. The next installment is set for late 2021 and is expected to serve next-gen consoles as well as the PS4 and Xbox One.
Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard reveals the release date of the upcoming title “Vanguard”. As part of the companys quarterly report on Tuesday, president and COO Daniel Alegre previewed the new game for the last quarter of 2021. He said the upcoming title would be available for “players of current and next-gen consoles”.
Despite the lack of an official announcement so far, rumours about the next CoD spin-off have been piling up over the past months until the title “Call of Duty: Vanguard” was finally confirmed in June. In addition to the release date, the cross-platform implementation of the upcoming title is another new piece of information for fans.
“We think the release will be incredibly well received,” Alegre said. Activision Blizzard aims to deliver a “great and seamless” gaming experience on current consoles – i.e. the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 – as well as next-gen models such as PS5 and Xbox X/S

Many gamers are expecting that after various leaks regarding Call of Duty: Vanguard, an official announcement should be within reach. Similar to what happened with Black Ops: Cold War, the presentation of Call of Duty: Vanguard is expected through live events in the Battle Royale Warzone, which could possibly still happen in August.
New releases despite discrimination scandal
A large section at the beginning of Activision Blizzard’s latest financial report also addressed the scandal of alleged sexist discrimination within the company. Due to this, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) filed a lawsuit against the game publisher as a result of a two-year investigation.
In light of the scandal, CEO Bobby Kotick stated in the report that Activision Blizzard would not tolerate “discrimination, harassment or disparate treatment”. Furthermore, in the future, any internal complaint about such incidents should be thoroughly investigated and “decisive action” taken against them.
