Darum geht es in Them’s Fightin’ Herds

Genre: 2D Fighting – Developer: Mane6 Inc. – Release: May 1, 2020

(Zu Them’s Fightin’ Herds on the Epic Games Store )

Them’s Fightin’ Herds is a classic 2D fighting game in many ways. Instead of martial arts specialists or anime characters, however, it features horses, unicorns, deer, cows and llamas trading blows with their hooves.

It’s all about blocking and dodging. Various attacks and special moves can be strung together into combos to send your opponent reeling. The stages are designed in the same, mostly colorful, cartoon look as the characters. As a rule, fights are a best-of-3 with a round time limit. There is also a rechargeable bar for special moves, as is common in the genre.
In terms of PvE, there is a story mode in which you play a different character from the squad in each chapter. There you will fight boss battles and play mini-games. The centerpiece is the versus mode . You can locally on one screen & compete against friends or online & compete against other players.

In the tutorial, the basics and combos are taught. A training mode lets you practice fighting with many settings and shows you hitboxes and detailed data on the attacks.

At Metacritic, Them’s Fightin’ Herds has an average rating of 80, and Steam users have given the game an 83 percent positive rating.

Fighting is Magic: Them’s Fightin’ Herds is actually related to My Little Pony. A group of fans were working on a fighting game based on the animated series under the name Fighting is Magic. However, rights holder Hasbro put a stop to the project. The group called themselves Mane6 back then and is now the developer of Them’s Fightin’ Herds.
