During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was announced. In this special adventure game, we don’t take on the role of Link as usual. Instead, we set out with the titular Zelda to save Hyrule from a new danger.
A new edition of the Nintendo Direct took place yesterday afternoon. In the showcase, Nintendo presented various third-party titles as well as some of its own titles that are due to be released later this year. These announced titles included The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. The title is set to be released for the Nintendo Switch in late summer.
In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, dark rifts run through Hyrule, causing the inhabitants of the kingdom to disappear one by one. Link is also swallowed up by one of these rifts. Now the fate of Hyrule lies in the hands of Princess Zelda. She receives the so-calledTri Wand from the mysterious fairy Tri, which gives her the ability to create echoes. These are imitations of objects in her surroundings.
Creating echoes can be used to solve puzzles, explore new paths and even defeat enemies. Zelda can also create echoes of enemies to fight alongside her against other opponents.
Echoes of Wisdom: Familiar features in a new guise
In the previous installments of The Legend of Zelda series, there were only a few ways to slip into the role of Zelda and actively use her special abilities. For example, Zelda could only be controlled indirectly in the 2009 partSpirit Tracks
The situation is different in the 2014 releaseHyrule Warriors In the battle-heavy spin-off, Zelda can be controlled directly so that fans can experience her skills in action. The same applies to theBreath of the Wild spin-offHyrule Warriors: Time of Devastation(2020).
After Tears of the Kingdom, the graphic style of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom almost seems like a break in style. However, long-time fans know that Nintendo is picking up on the style already used in the remake of Link’s Awakening, which was released in 2019. Fans of the title can therefore also look forward to the upcoming adventure game.
Nintendo announced during the Direct that The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be released for the Nintendo Switch on September 26. A gold-colored Nintendo Switch Lite – Hyrule Edition decorated with the Hylia crest will be released at the same time.
