The final of the EMEA Masters in League of Legends, in which the German team Eintracht Spandau faced the competition from Besiktas Esports, was awaited with great anticipation

The dream of the cup has finally come true!

Three years after its foundation, Eintracht Spandau is at the top of the European League of Legends scene. With a more than dominant performance, the Spandau eSports organization managed to defeat the competition from Turkey 3:1. However, the foundation for this was already laid at the start of the Spring Split. With the exception of the players Nikolay “Zanzarah” Akatov and Philipp “Lilipp” Samuel Englert, the team was rebuilt for the start of the 2024 season.

Mid laner Tristan “PowerofEvil” Schrage in particular, who previously played in the LCS and EU LCS (now known as the LEC, editor’s note), attracted a lot of attention with his return to the professional game. The former Misfits or TSM player previously worked as a content creator for Eintracht.

The double for Spandau

Although Eintracht Spandau has consistently been one of the better and more entertaining teams in the league since entering the league, the team failed to win the grand prize of the split championship. However, this should change in the course of the current season. Although they played a rather mixed split and finished in fifth place in the final table, they were then to go all the way to the top in a “little miracle run”.

The team made short work of SK Gaming Prime in the final, winning the Prime League trophy for the first time. Afterwards, the EMEA Masters, formerly known as the EU Masters, was to be played against the international elite of the EMEA region – with the exception of the “Champions League” teams from the LEC. Both in the group stage and in the play-offs, the Spandau team did not show any weaknesses, with one exception against Orbit Anonymo Esports from Poland, and marched impressively through to the final of the tournament.

Here they faced Besiktas Esports, the runners-up in the Turkish league. But even they were no match for the reigning German champions and, despite a strong performance in match three, had to bow out relatively quickly. Eintracht Spandau can now call themselves double winners and are rightly regarded as the best European team outside the LEC.
