We’ve scoured Steam for unknown but popular games so you don’t have to. Here are five new insider tips

This time a day later, but no less topical: Our five Steam insider tips for the weekend with games that aren’t making a big wave, but are well received by insiders.

This time with medieval and post-apocalyptic survival combat, a construction game for train enthusiasts and, if you have nerves of steel, a new co-op horror game. Have fun with our five new Steam insider tips

Infection Free Zone

(Genre: Zombie-Simulation – Steam-Release: April 11, 2024 (Early Access) – Price: (25 Euro)

Imagine the zombie apocalypse is spreading. In Infection Free Zone, the entire globe has been infected. And you have to manage a safe zone based on real satellite data. Naturally, everyone starts by searching for their hometown.

You search nearby pharmacies for medicine and build a bastion for the last survivors. And don’t forget a protective fence against the hordes of biters that visit you with menacing regularity.

Bellwright

(Genre: Medieval-Survival – Steam-Release: April 23, 2024 (Early Access) – Price29 Euro)

Survival is always on Steam: With Bellwright a new challenger enters the fray. Here, the fight for survival takes place in a medieval game world. The game comes from Donkey Crew, the creators of the unusual survival MMO Last Oasis.

In Bellwright, you build a base, expand it into a village settlement, assemble an army of AI troops and lead them into battle against the authorities. Bellwright is designed for single player and co-op.

Forewarned

(Genre: Co-op-Horror – Steam-Release: April 25, 2024 – Price11 Euro)

Alone or with four friends, you can chase after ancient Egyptian treasures. It’s just a shame that the monsters don’t like giving up their treasures. This is the stuff that Forewarned your nightmares are made of.

Forewarned is all about exploration and the slow build-up of tension, rather than muzzle flashes and fountains of blood. You use gadgets to gain advantages, which is somewhat reminiscent of ghost hunter games such as Phasmophobia

Alpha League

(Genre: Tactical-Roguelike – Steam-Release: February 23, 2024 – PriceFree2Play)

Alpha League, which is available for free on Steam, offers you a mix of roguelike and PvP tactics  It also mixes elements from car chess titles into the formula.

You develop your heroes bit by bit like in a roguelike, acquire new abilities with special artifacts and use them either against bots or other players in PvP.

Sweet Transit

(Genre: Construction/Management – Steam-Release: April 22, 2024 – Price30 Euro)

Finally, here’s a secret building game tip: In Sweet Transit you build cities that revolve entirely around rail networks. And then you also want them to work.

Your task is to build the most efficient transportation network possible. Gradually, you’ll build more and more villages and towns that want to be connected by rail. Also important: keeping the population happy so that productivity doesn’t suffer

Speaking of construction: Did you notice the release of Manor Lords on Steam?

And, was there something suitable for you this week? Which game caught your attention? Are you currently playing a completely unknown title that you think gets far too little limelight? Let us know in the comments! We’re always happy to read your views and suggestions.
