The popular pirate game is soon getting new content all about arguably one of the most popular adventure games of all time.

It’ll make the three-headed monkey in the frying pan go crazy: Monkey Island is back! But not in the form of a stand-alone game, but as add-on content for Microsoft’s popular pirate game Sea of Thieves. And the best news: Fans don’t even have to wait long before they can set sail to put a stop to LeChuck.

The Monkey Island DLC will be released on 20 July 2023 already! Microsoft announced this with its usual humorous trailer at the big Xbox Showcase:

The best news comes at the end: Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island will, according to the trailer, offer a completely new story and be playable for free for all fans! If you look closely, you will see that you are actually entering the island known from the Adventures – including the legendary tavern where Guybrush Threepwood once started his pirate career

Further details are not yet known. It’s best to watch the trailer above yourself to scan what you’ve seen for clues with your Monkey Island fan eye. After all, it won’t be long before you can see the new content for yourself directly in the game.

There will be many more exciting announcements and trailers at the Xbox, Starfield and PCGaming shows.
