Shortly after the release of Sonic Frontiers, fans of the blue hedgehog can look forward to a new Netflix series: Sonic Prime. The streaming service recently released the first teaser.

What a year for Sonic fans! After Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was released in cinemas this spring, the new video game Sonic Frontiers is already following at the beginning of November. But SEGA seems to think that all good things come in threes. So the blue hedgehog and his friends will flicker across our screens for a third time. This time in the form of an animated series on Netflix. Sonic Prime is scheduled for release this winter. The teaser trailer already gives the first hints of what to expect in the series.

The nasty Doctor Eggman is making himself at home in the idyllic Green Hill Zone with all kinds of fighting robots. But Sonic knows how to stand up to the creep.

The only thing he can’t be prepared for is a stranger who is surprisingly good at keeping up with the pace of our speedy hero: Shadow The trailer hints that the two hedgehogs will face each other in battle. It remains to be seen if this will happen at the beginning of the series or if they are working towards an epic battle at the season finale.

While a short teaser deals with Shadow’s abilities, another teaser shows a leisurely friend of Sonic: Big the Cat and his frog Froggy. We’ll find out what role the laid-back pair will take on in Sonic Prime in the winter.

So far, Netflix’s brief description reveals the following about the plot of Sonic Prime:

The ever-popular Sonic is back! But an incredible development plunges him into a new adventure with a new cast and a Sonic like you’ve never seen before. The fate of the multiverse rests in his gloved hands, but his latest adventure is more than a race against time to save the universe from the evil machinations of his longtime nemesis Dr. Eggman and his army of Badnik robots – it’s about saving the friends he took for granted.
