A new model of the PlayStation 5 from Sony is said to be coming to the market. The version has apparently lost some weight.

It seems that a new PS5 model is on the way. Already in Australia, the new version of the console is said to have been released. Compared to the older variant, the new model is said to be a bit slimmer.

The new CFI-1200 model is currently already on the Australian market and features a few small changes compared to Sony’s conventional PlayStation 5. The new model will be available everywhere on 15 September. The new version of the PS5 has lost some weight compared to the console from 2021.

Both the digital and disc versions are now arguably slimmer than their predecessor. The digital PS5 is said to weigh 200 grams less and stands at 3.4 kilograms, while the disc PS5 is 300 grams lighter and tips the scales at 3.9 kilograms. Sony seems to have saved on material for the individual components.

After all, this is the second time Sony has redesigned the PS5 to reduce weight. A new version of the next-gen console was already released in 2021. There, the heat sink was revised, which in turn led to a lighter console. However, it is not yet known what Sony has changed in the new model. Nevertheless, the PS5 has lost about half a kilo in weight since its launch at the end of 2020.
