Actually, series creator Ron Gilbert didn’t want to share any more new artwork from Return to Monkey Island. But apparently he has changed his mind. Yesterday he shared an in-game clip of the upcoming point-and-click adventure game.

Return to Monkey Island’s new drawing style is a thorn in the side of many fans. Because the community’s reactions had become so encroaching, creator Ron Gilbert had decided not to share anything from the upcoming adventure game. The joy of it had merely been taken away from him. Apparently, however, some convincing was done behind the scenes. Yesterday evening, Gilbert published a 40-second clip. In it, we see the protagonist Guybrush Threepwood in court of Brrr Muda.

Return to Monkey Island is the sequel to the popular series by Ron Gilbert and Lucasfilm Games. 13 years had passed since the release of the last part when the developers surprisingly came back in April this year. Since then, the title has been one of the most sought-after of the year. Together with Dave Grossman, he has been celebrating Monkey Island Monday for a fortnight now.

There is no official release date yet. But at least we know that Return to Monkey Island will be released later this year for PC and Nintendo Switch. You can find more information about this in our presentation of the Nintendo Direct Mini or in our news about the announcement.
