One of the most eagerly awaited PlayStation brands will finally debut on PC. The remake of The Last of Us shows up spruced up for PS5 and home computers.

What goes around comes around? In the case of The Last of Us, I think it’s safe to assume: It’s going to be a hit on the PC too. Yes, that’s right, the PlayStation smash hit will make its debut on the home computer and even offers a significantly upgraded look and improved gameplay compared to the PS3 or PS4 original.

At Summer Game Fest 2022 Sony let the infected out of the bag and also showed a first trailer. We’ve collected all the info we know so far for you.

Why is this news so good? Because The Last of Us stands for a gripping storyline like no other game and we can expect plenty of goosebumps. The official trailer for the remake makes this clear:

Ellie and Joel on the PC for the first time

When will The Last of Us be released for the PC? Of all things, we are still missing this info so far. The remake will be released for the PlayStation 5 on 2 September 2022, and the trailer ends with the sentence: So in development for PC. So it is not certain whether the PC version will be released on the same day as the PS5 version; a later release would also be conceivable, probably in 2023.

Where can I see the trailer and screenshots? You can find the trailer a few lines above. In the Resetera forum a user posted a link to some screenshots and pictures of the retail packaging for the PlayStation 5 edition.

Jason Schreier confirmed the existence of the remake even before the official announcement. The journalist, known for his reliability and good contacts in the industry, wrote on Twitter that the announcement of The Last of Us remake was planned for Summer Game Fest 2022.

What are the changes to the original? Sony’s description of the game remains vague on this topic as well:

Enjoy a complete overhaul of the original experience, faithfully recreated but with modernised gameplay, improved controls and enhanced accessibility options. Plus, immerse yourself in the game with enhanced effects and expanded exploration and combat“.

This could be taken to mean that the gameplay is more akin to the newer second part than the original The Last of Us. We will probably only find out more details at the official announcement.

Is the DLC Left Behind also part of the remake? Yes – the new version of The Last of Us will also include the prequel chapter Left Behind. In it, we experience Ellie’s life with the Fireflies before she meets Joel.

Are you excited about this news? Will you be starting another adventure with Ellie and Joel, or will you be experiencing this masterpiece for the very first time? Let us know in the comments!
