Breath of the Wild sequel will no longer be released in 2022

Fans of Legend of Zelda will now have to be strong. Eiji Aonuma, producer of the series, has said in a statement today that the Breath of the Wild sequel will not be released this year. Instead, he said, the decision has been made to postpone the release until next year.

A dark background, no announcement music or melodies in the background. This is how the producer of the Legend of Zelda series, Eiji Aonuma, presents himself. In a one-and-a-half minute video, he addresses the fan community, who have been waiting for news about the second part of Breath of the Wild for some time now. In this statement, Aonuma announces that the release of the sequel has been postponed to spring 2023. He goes on to apologise to all those who were hoping for a release this year.

Following this, there are a few gameplay scenes from the Breath of the Wild sequel. Aonuma once again summarises that the new part will not only take place on the ground, but also in the air. Furthermore, there will be some new gameplay features and as well as new encounters.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2017, and since then over 25.8 million copies of the game have been sold, making it one of the most popular Switch games ever. In the (Nintendo eShop), the title is still available for just under 70 euros.
