Fans of the Witcher card game can rejoice. CD Projekt Red announced on their media page (IGN) that they are working on a new Gwent game. Project Golden Nekker is said to deliver an “immersive single player experience. “

Long-time Witcher fans know the dilemma: The gripping adventure demands that we rescue our friends from the highest trouble. But then again, we might as well challenge a yokel to a round of Gwent. The Witcher card game is so popular that a stand-alone game called Gwent: The Witcher Card Game was already released in 2016. Now CD Projekt Red wants to offer an alternative to the multiplayer title. The single-player Project Golden Nekker is to be released as a standalone and not require any other versions of Gwent.

Although IGN provides the first official announcement about a new Gwent game, CD Projekt Red has dropped a few hints in recent months. For example, in a developer update, game director Vladimir Tortsov spoke of stuff they were working on.

When the spin-off The Witcher Tales: Thronebraker was released, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game had a set of new cards. It can be assumed that the same will happen with Project Golden Nekker. The Gwent Roadmap for 2022 has already revealed that new cards will be released in April, July, October and December. Since the Witcher games have always been released in May or October so far, the new title could be released as early as October this year.
