New World’s bot problem takes absurd turns and players are frustrated. Just now, a non-controlled character reaches level 60 by fishing tirelessly.

Amazon’s MMO New World has been running for over three months now. But in the meantime, an extremely frustrating problem has emerged for players: Aeternum is overrun by bots. Numerous players report in forums that the starting areas in particular seem to consist only of bots that fish all day long in order to farm levels quickly.

The developers stated in a statement that they are working on the problem, but for many this is not fast enough. Instead, bot hunting became a popular pastime at Christmas time and the methods became more and more creative. Nevertheless, the first bots are now actually reaching Max Level – even though they have already been reported several times according to players.

Bot slowly reaches Max Level by fishing – and no ban?

There are numerous reports on Reddit of automated bots being unleashed on fishing spots by players. One post tracked the progress of a bot that had been on the same spot for weeks and was not fazed by anything. Finally, the bot reached level 55 and was only 5 levels away from the maximum level of 60.

Numerous users recognise the bot immediately and state that they have already reported it several times in an attempt to get it banned – apparently unsuccessfully. According to user doublenarr, however, the bot can no longer be found as of today – so it is possible that it has finally been stopped.

Nevertheless, other players post that there are also high-level bots at the same fishing spot on their servers. Allegedly, one of them has already reached max level 60. One user reports that the servers currently “consist of 30 percent bots. Whether this is true is, of course, difficult to verify. Nevertheless, the posts show the frustrated mood that is spreading among the players.

Are you currently playing New World? Have you had any problems with bots? How do you see the future of the MMO? Let us know in the comments!
