With prize money of one million euros, ESL One Cologne is one of the biggest counter-strike events of the year. Yesterday 18 of 24 participants were announced.

The ESL One Cologne.

One of the largest Counter-Strike Events, which each Counter-Strike fan has each year thickly marked in the calendar. But 15,000 fans in the sold-out LANXESS arena is not possible in times of a worldwide pandemic. What was originally planned to take place on July 6 – 12 as a big offline spectacle has been converted by the organizers into an online format that will now take place on the virtual stage from August 21 – 30.

Yesterday, the ESL published the first 18 teams that will participate via Twitter. Astralis, Team Liquid, Fnatic and G2 are the headline of the $1 million prize money tournament. In addition to the four big ones, other world-class teams from all over the world such as FURIA, Evil Geniuses and Vitality will compete.

The seeding for the ESL One Cologne follows the ESL Pro Tour ranking system, which is slightly different from the usual HLTV rankings.
