Wonderful gunplay or innovative movement? Opinions on the first test of Battlefield 2042 are split.

Ready for a gigantic battle in the near future? You don’t need a time machine for that, just access to the beta for Battlefield 2042.

For fans who pre-ordered the game, which will be released on 19 November, the beta already started on Wednesday. For all other players, the test phase will start on Friday, 8 October. These are the first impressions of the testers.

The opinions of the players could hardly be more different. Comments on social media and forums range from disappointed cancellations to joyful reviews. What is striking is that while the graphics are praised in several places, other users report graphic bugs and poor performance of the game. Apparently this depends on the platform. On PlayStation and Xbox there are visual highlights, while a few problems have been reported for the PC.

The Battlefield news site BravoIntel asked on Twitter what the readers think about the movement and gunplay in the new part. The fans in the comments are divided: Some described it as unique and very positive, as it strongly reminds of CoD. Others feel that the movement is too fast and have not yet come to terms with it.

Twitter user @KirkRooster gamed Battlefield 2042 on the Xbox Series X at 4K resolution and 60 Hz. His experience was very positive, except for a few bugs like flickering objects in the distance.

A very detailed test report has been compiled by Reddit user Toraidoron. He was able to discover bugs in some corners and ends and finds the overall package a bit too lax. Weapons and sounds had no real punch behind them and the map was too big, which led to uneventful gameplay moments for him.

The streamer GenOdyssey sums up very well what some fans seem to think: elements are reminiscent of CoD, the sound takes some getting used to and the weapon handling is still a bit strange. But: He loves it because it’s still Battlefield.
