The future of WoW: Midnight and Classic has been decided. We summarize what you can expect.

World of Warcraft: Midnight is the next major expansion for the MMO. The pre-release event called Twilight Ascension is already underway, but that’s just the prelude to 2026.

The developer stream recently presented the roadmap for the coming months, which announces new features not only for Midnight, but also for WoW Classic.

Roadmap for WoW: Midnight

WoW: Midnight will be released on March 3, 2026 and already has some content in store. In addition to the campaign, you can expect the following:

  • 4 new zones
  • 10 new depths
  • 8 new dungeons
  • 3 new raids
  • the new allied race, the Haranir
  • the new loot system

The three raids will be released in stages. The first will be the large Kluftstrum raid with six bosses, followed by two smaller mini-raids with one boss each. The roadmap shows that you can expect more raids in future patches, which will also be small in scale.

Patch 12.0.5 will introduce the Void Assaults and Prop Hunt. In the former, you’ll fight void monsters that are invading the new areas, and the latter is a kind of prop hunt mode.

The other patches include storylines and quests, new dungeons and depths, another zone, and the turbulent Timeways—a meta-event where new challenges and rewards await you. But one new feature stands out in particular: The Labyrinths.

These are gigantic versions of the depths you already know from The War Within. The labyrinths will be open to solo adventurers. According to Game Director Ion Hazzikostas, they are inspired by the mega-dungeons from Shadowfang Keep. The labyrinths will be introduced in Patch 12.1.5, which will be rolled out in fall 2026.

Last but not least, there will be a new game mode created by the developers of the Plunderstorm event. However, no further details have been revealed yet.

    Roadmap for WoW Classic

Even if you’re a fan of classic WoW, you’ll have plenty to do this year. The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary Edition will be released soon, expanding over the coming months in 4 (and a half) phases. The chess game in Karazhan and Magtheridon await you.

Mists of Pandaria will also continue, starting with the release of Escalation, including a fresh campaign and new battleground, followed by the Battle for Orgrimmar.
