The VALORANT developers have released more information about Agent 23. We explain what is already known about him now.

VALORANT is getting another new agent. After the release of the last character Gekko, the developers now gave a little insight into Agent 23.

Update 23 June
:

Agent 23 has a name

Agent 23 finally has an official name. This was announced by the reliable leak account ValorLeaks on 21 June via Twitter.

Agent 23 is called Deadlock and will be a Sentinel, as already known.

The VALORANT team also published a new hint on Twitter on 22 June, once again giving the community some hidden info on Deadlock’s characteristics.

As Sova and Cypher research information about the new agent, it could be that Deadlock’s abilities will be some sort of counter for information based agents.

What exactly the abilities will be, however, is not yet known.

The short clip also shows the potential appearance of the new agent.

Cypher examines the image of a man wearing a cap, glasses and a thick parka on his screen. So this is what the new “Kingdom Scientist” could possibly look like in the game.

Furthermore, the coordinates shown in the video under his picture lead to the Californian city of Los Angeles. Deadlock could therefore be of American origin.

Original post on 7 June:

Capabilities of Agent 23

In a video about the rest of the plans of the VALORANT developers in 2023, a little has already been revealed about the upcoming agent. It is said to be a sentinel that leaves enemies “rooted to the spot” and pulls them in for a “closer look. “

Not much else is revealed in the video and the room for interpretation leaves a lot open. The ability kit could include a root, for example. Also, there could be an ability that reveals information (such as cooldowns) about enemies or moves them involuntarily.

Traitorous Waffles

An image of Agent 23’s presumed workplace suggests that he too – like Killjoy, Raze and co – relies on the help of tech gadgets.

The blue gadget is reminiscent of the playercard “Death Trap” from the last Battlepass. It’s common for Riot to hide a teaser of the upcoming agent in this one.

But a very different detail has the community in a speculative mood.

In addition to the tools, a coffee cup and a plate with waffles can be seen on the table. According to the community, the heart-shaped waffles originated in Scandinavia. The brown topping could be “Brunost”, a sweet cheese that originates from Norway.

Further references to the origin

The Night Market also condenses these clues. For its design is reminiscent of the Northern Lights. In addition, Jett talks in a message on the PBE server about a Kingdom project that is to take place in Norway

Possible teaser at VCT Masters

Riot likes to tease the next VALORANT agent at Esport events. So it was with both Fade and Gekko.

Next up is the VCT Masters Tokyo 2023 and Riot may well reveal more about Agent 23 during the finals.

New maps, team deathmatch and legacy shop

More exciting changes to VALORANT were announced in the developer video. Starting with Episode 7 (end of June), the Team Deathmatch mode will be introduced. There will be special maps for this mode.

In addition, there is to be the possibility of unlocking missed accessories from past Battlepasses. And the manner of agent contracts has also been revised. As the last agent in 2023, another Duelist is to join the VALORANT roster at the end of the year.
