Because of the skins of Overwatch 2 Blizzard is again in the focus of criticism. They are too expensive and therefore many want the lootboxes back.

With Overwatch 2, a complete revision of the first game came onto the market at the beginning of October. One of the biggest changes is probably the introduction of the Battle Pass and thus the removal of the Lootboxes. Players can now buy skins for vast sums of money in the shop, which has met with resistance, especially from the community.

As every year, Blizzard brings a Halloween event to the shooter and matching skins for the heroes. However, these cannot be obtained through Lootboxes as in the past, but are only available for purchase in the shop for Overwatch Coins. A single legendary skin costs 1,900 coins, which corresponds to about 19 euros. However, the prices for the special Halloween skins are even more expensive.

Whoever wants to buy the creepy skin for the newest heroine Kiriko will have to spend a whopping 2,600 coins, as it is currently only available in a bundle in the shop. It is possible to earn Overwatch Coins in the game itself. However, players only receive 60 coins in a week. So in order to be able to buy a legendary skin worth 1,900 coins only with the free coins, gamers would have to play for a total of 32 weeks.

In Overwatch 1, the players:inside could still get the Overwatch Coins through the Lootboxes, but this is also dropped in the second part. Even the Battle Pass does not have the currency as a reward. Because of this and the high prices, as well as the fact that the skins are only in the game for a certain period of time, many players would like to see the lootboxes return.

Even Twitch streamer Asmongold criticises the costs, especially for the weapon tags. Such an item is sold in the shop for 700 Overwatch coins, which is about seven euros. However, in real life, players could buy the same pendant for less money. Asmongold refers to this only as “Blizzard”s greed knows no bounds”.
