Amazon has announced the first addon for its MMORPG New World. The expansion, called Rise of the Angry Earth, is scheduled for release on October 3 and will introduce mounts for players, among other things.
New World does not have it easy at the moment. While several hundred thousand players were online daily in the MMORPG at the release at the end of 2021, there are (according to SteamDB) currently at most around 15,000. A large part of the original community has left due to glitches and exploits, but also shortcomings in story and PvP.
At the beginning of the year, publisher Amazon announced that it wanted to take countermeasures and switched the game to a season model. At the same time, the first expansion for New World was announced for the fall.

What is offered?
Mounts: Probably the biggest innovation in Rise of the Angry Earth are mounts. If you previously had to roam Aeternum on foot, with the addon it will be possible to call horses, wolves and lions to your aid. Each of the animals has a unique appearance, colorable equipment and names that can be set by the player.
Level: Additionally, Rise of the Angry Earth changes the progression system of New World. The level cap will be raised to 65.
Areas: A new zone will also be added. To this end, the southern tip of Aeternum, previously known as First Light, will be transformed. The area that once welcomed newcomers is now a fallen land. The fields have been destroyed by the wrath of Artemis and the Angry Earth. A deadly barrier prevents all but the bravest from finding out more.
With the new territory, of course, comes a new enemy class: the powerful Beast Lords. However, they also bring with them the secret of mount taming.
Anything else?
In addition, there is a new weapon – the flail. The flail is a versatile one-handed weapon with the option to carry a shield in the secondary hand. In addition, Rise of the Angry Earth is said to bring a new gear rarity, a new end-game expedition, and heart rune abilities to the game.
When does it start and how much does it cost?
Rise of the Angry Earth is scheduled to be released at the same time as the third season of New World on October 3. The expansion will cost around 29 euros. In a bundle with the main game, the whole thing is available for 69 euros. So far, New World is only available for the PC.
