Thursday is gift day at Epic. This time around: detective puzzles and fun party games!

It’s Friiiii… oh, damn. No, it’s not the weekend yet. But: It’s Thuuuuurday! And that means new free games in the Epic Store, this time valid from December 4 to December 11 at 4:59 p.m.

Are there any games for you this time?  Let’s find out without further ado, because these are definitely niche titles – but with stellar reviews.

The Darkside Detective

  • Genre: Adventure
  • Developer: Spooky Doorway
  • Release: July 27, 2017

(The Darkside Detective for free on the Epic Store)

Have you ever heard of the Darkside Division? No? Well, now you work for this group. Namely as a brave detective who solves the most sinister cases. Hungry tentacle arms, mafia zombies, and missing socks are just some of the problems you’ll face.

This adventure game with a 16-bit retro look offers you nine short paranormal cases and, according to the official description, even at least three jokes. You also get a free curse removal if strange things happen in your home while you’re playing or afterwards.

A crowd favorite on Steam: Despite its minimalist look, The Darkside Detective has won over a whopping 94 percent of players. The highlight for pretty much everyone: the great storyline!

    Jackbox Party Pack 4

    • Genre: Party game
    • Developer: Jackbox Games, Inc.
    • Release: October 19, 2017

(Jackbox Party Pack 4 for free on the Epic Store)

We have an idea for your Christmas celebrations this year. Instead of the same old goose and the inevitable arguments at the dinner table, you can create a killer atmosphere with Jackbox Party Pack 4. Whether it’s a peaceful one or a noisy one is anyone’s guess.

The fact is, when the funny showmaster Jack appears on your screen, it’s time to get down to business. As usual for the series, you can choose from a variety of hilarious mini-games in which you compete against your fellow players. It doesn’t really matter who wins, because you’ll be laughing a lot either way. And you can always eat the Christmas goose on the side. Bon appétit!

What does the Steam community say? A whopping 94 percent of players give it a virtual thumbs up.

Tip: The game is officially only available in English, but just google Jackbox Party Patch. Have fun!

You can find more game recommendations in the articles linked above. There should be more free games coming soon to the Epic Store, provided Epic launches an advent calendar as it has in previous years – then there will be a new offer every 24 hours, sometimes with surprisingly big game names. We’ll let you know right away if the promotion kicks off again in 2025.
