Last week saw the release of the visually stunning game Trek to Yomi. Since then, publisher Devolver Digital has released not only a launch trailer but also a live-action trailer for the game. Like the game itself, the trailer pays homage to Japanese director Akira Kurosawa.

Black and white visuals and a story that transcends life. That’s the indie title Trek to Yomi from Flying Wild Hod ung Devolver Digital. Since 5 May, the game not only takes us to another era on another continent. We also experience a piece of film history. The brilliant graphics and the emotional atmosphere of the game are also celebrated in the reviews on Steam  The live-action trailer has a lot more of this to offer.

In Trek to Yomi you accompany Hiroki, a samurai living in the Edo period. He had to promise his dying master that he would protect his entire village from all harm beyond death. Thus begins a tragic story of fate that goes beyond life and tells of an epic journey.

You can expect an approximately six-hour-long story, which you can take on in three different difficulty levels. After completing the story, you will unlock an additional mode.

One big problem, however, is the gameplay  Judging by the reviews on Steam the combat seems to be extremely repetitive, which takes a lot of enjoyment out of the game after a while. Nevertheless, 69% of the 550 reviews are convinced by Trek to Yomi
