Total Warhammer 3 is far from over, studio Creative Assembly has announced content for the next 12 months in their roadmap – focusing on three major DLCs.

Those who haven’t warmed up to the Chaos Dwarfs need not despair – for Total War: Warhammer 3 still come three more DLCs in the next twelve months! Creative Assembly has even already (revealed a few details) coming our way.

The roadmap at a glance

Patch 3.1

The first change awaits us quite soon, in the last week of May, patch 3.1 is to be launched. Here you can expect bug fixes as well as the Chaos Dwarves as an endgame scenario in Immortals Empires, seven new units and a fresh legendary hero.

Update 4.0 – Shadows of Change

The next and fourth DLC with the name Shadows of Change will be released in summer. It will focus on the three races Tzeentch, Cathay and Kislev. You can also expect three new legendary commanders, a legendary hero and some new units. Before moving on to the next DLC, there will be an intermediate patch as usual to fix bugs and make other minor improvements.

If you want to know exactly what to expect in the DLCs, you can find the exact listing on page 2. If you want to watch the trailer for the last expansion instead, the trailer for Chaos Dwarfs is available here:

Update 5.0 – Thrones of Decay

Thrones of Legacy will follow at the end of the year. The fifth DLC focuses on Nurgle, the Empire and the Dwarves. The three races get their own legendary commanders and a new campaign to expand the Total War Warhammer universe. Also appearing here is a legendary hero, new units, perks, a legendary artifact, and according to Creative Assembly, more, more, more.

Update 6.0

In spring 2024, the next DLC awaits us, but we still know very little about it – not even the name is known yet. However, three already existing races will be expanded, and new legendary commanders and a legendary hero will be added.

What will happen with Total War Warhammer 3 afterwards?

Creative Assembly still has big plans with Warhammer 3, after the twelve months should not be the end. The team probably already has some ideas for gameplay and performance improvements, which should come to the releases in 2024 – However, the studio does not reveal more details yet.

Update 3.1

As has become customary, our interim patches after each major release will include bug fixes, gameplay and game balance changes (based largely on your feedback), and notable features that will evolve and improve the game. Here are some of the highlights of Update 3.1:

  • The Chaos Dwarves are coming to Immortal Empires as an endgame scenario…. Now that you can spread the Flame of Hashut, you can also survive the Melting Water Flood in the endgame…
  • Regiments of Glory: Seven new units join the lineup of WARHAMMER III’s base races! Can you guess which seven?
  • New Legendary Hero: Discover the newest legendary hero to join the fray. Look forward to a special reveal later this month for an official introduction!
  • Multiple crash and performance fixes, bug fixes, gameplay tweaks and more!

Watch for Update 3.1 in the last week of May, including more details and news as we get closer to the end of the month!

Update 4.0

After the release of Update 3.1, the team is fully committed to the summer release! Update 4.0 will be accompanied not only by our fourth DLC-

SHADOWS OF CHANGE-but will also include a number of new additions to the game:

  • SHOWS OF CHANGE: Our fourth official DLC explores the ongoing history of three races-Tzeentch, Cathay, and Kislev-and introduces three new legendary lords, a new legendary hero, a host of new units, and more!
  • Free Legendary Hero: Another Legendary Hero joins the roster…a frontline fighter twisted by the Lord of Change!
  • Immortal Empires Achievements: By popular demand, the time has come; complete a series of new Achievements for all different races on the greatest battlefield of all time.
  • Race Updates: The three races spotlighted by the DLC will also enjoy a base race update. So for all you Tzeentch, Cathay, and Kislev commanders out there, this might be a good opportunity to strike up a conversation with your fellow players.
  • KI Updates: Expect improvements and fixes to the player and campaign AI as the world and the threats within it continue to evolve.
  • Settlement Battles Improvements: Another ongoing project, expect the latest adjustments, bug fixes, and AI improvements for Settlement Battles.
  • ..and, as always, more fixes and features to come in Update 4.0!

We’ll be sharing more details on these changes in the weeks leading up to Update 4.0, so stay tuned for more information, preview videos, and a first look at SHADOWS OF CHANGE later this summer.

Update 5.0

The last release of the year heralds another major update and the next DLC-

THRONES OF DECAY-to expand the WARHAMMER III battlefield:

  • THRONES OF DECAY: Nurgle, the Empire and the Dwarves step into the spotlight with their own legendary lords and new campaigns to expand the TW: WH universe. In addition to a new legendary hero, new units, and other perks, we’ll be covering the latest DLC.
  • Free Legendary Hero: Another legendary hero is coming to the toolbox. This time there are no clues…(you already have all the clues you need!).
  • The Nemesis Crown: A new legendary artifact (similar to the Sword of Khaine) appears on the battlefield. We’ll take a look at what it offers before it’s added in 5.0….
  • Race updates: Nurgle, the Empire, and the Dwarves will be under the microscope, which is a great opportunity to prioritize your ideas and complaints before the end of the year!
  • ..and, of course, more, more, more!

We’re nowhere near close enough to getting into the details of 5.0, but the important thing is that it’s on its way! And that gives you plenty of time to speculate not only on which three Lords will show up this winter, but also what changes you’d like to see to the three races in the spotlight.

Update 6.0

And finally, to round out the 12-month calendar, we can also confirm that Update 6.0 will be released in Spring 2024: another opportunity to expand three of the game’s races, introduce new Legendary Lords and a new Legendary Hero, and gameplay improvements galore with the main release.

Further look into the future

There’s a lot more in the works that we haven’t even begun to mention-running performance, optimization, gameplay and mechanics improvements, the ideas we already have for our 2024 releases, and more-and we can’t wait to share more details as we get closer to each game update. And with all of that in mind, your feedback continues to be key to the growth of the game and what will be included in each and every future release. We’re building a game for you, so by all means keep the conversation going (in a respectful and constructive way).
