For a very long time it remained suspiciously quiet around The Settlers. Now a new sign of life finally promises a comeback in January 2022, a beta phase and (hopefully) a release in the near future.
Ubisoft has really kept us on tenterhooks! After almost two years, there is finally a new sign of life from The Settlers. Now we know: In January 2022, the sorely missed building strategy game will finally celebrate its comeback and even a beta phase is planned. By the way, this even lets us speculate about a potential release date.
How The Settlers is making a comeback
This news: Not too much news is known about The Settlers, at least not at the moment. However, the developers at Ubisoft have at least reported back with new artwork and the promise that fans can look forward to further updates in January 2022. In addition, players can already register for a beta phase.

Why we almost had to tremble: The new The Settlers was already announced at gamescom 2018. And at that time, the building game was actually supposed to be released in 2019. However, this never happened, while the release date was postponed several times – most recently indefinitely. Then, since July 2020, there has been absolute radio silence, which of course left reason for concern. After all, such signs often indicate that there are major problems in the development of a game.
But now there is at least a new sign of life and we will of course stay on the ball for you: As soon as there is new information, trailers or even gameplay early next year, you will of course be the first to know on GlobalESportNews.
What we know about the beta phase so far
How you can (maybe) play The Settlers in advance: With their return from the dead, the developers of the building strategy game already have some exciting news in store. On the official Ubisoft website you can currently register for a chance to play in advance. To do so, simply proceed as follows:
- Go to this (Ubisoft website)
- Click on the platform you want to pre-play through: Ubisoft Connect or Epic
- Log in with your Ubisoft account
- Submit your registration
Once you’ve done all that, all you can do is wait and keep an eye on your email inbox. By January 2022 at the latest, there should be news about the beta phase of The Settlers and whether you will also be allowed to play.
What does this mean for the release of The Settlers?
Release probably not too far away: Of course, Ubisoft has not officially stated a release date or even a release period. But the signs are good that The Settlers could well be released in the first half of 2022. Because the current information indicates that the beta phase should start at the beginning of next year, if Ubisoft now promises news for January. And usually the final release follows in the three to four or five months after a beta phase.
Of course, this is not officially confirmed at the moment and fans should always wait for an official statement from Ubisoft. Based on this sign of life, however, we would not be surprised if The Settlers were to be released in the first half of next year.
The most important info on The Settlers
Back to the Settlers roots: According to its developers, the new The Settlers wants to return to the roots of the series. No wonder, since series father Volker Wertich is responsible for the production of the building strategy game, and thus there should be no one more suitable for this project.
As pretty as The Division? Incidentally, The Settlers relies on the Snowdrop engine, which is already used in Ubisoft titles such as The Division. This should definitely result in impressive graphics as well as atmosphere and ensure a high level of detail
