Who’s a good boy? Well, since you asked: In the Middle Ages, dogs and cats were much more than just good boys and girls; they performed vital tasks. Cats kept wild animals like foxes away from livestock, and cats hunted rats to significantly curb plagues like the Black Death. So the fact that the medieval building game Farthest Frontier is now getting pets is more than just a cosmetic addition.

The Cats & Dogs DLC adds a whole host of new mechanics to the game:

– At the start of your campaign, you choosean animal companionthat will roam around your settlement and mitigate the threat posed by wild animals.
– In new breeding buildings, you can breed offspring from18 different animal combinations
New threatssuch as animal infestations make pets necessary from a gameplay perspective as well.

In addition, there are alsonew decorative items, such as hedge gardens. The paid expansion will be released on May 14, 2026; Farthest Frontier currently has a very positive 88% rating on Steam.
