The loot shooter from the Tom Clancy universe is far from finished. The prospect of a new DLC is already causing player numbers to rise.
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Part 1, the franchise is picking up speed again. The Division 2 has reached a new player record on Steam. Ubisoft is also planning new content, and fans can currently look forward to special in-game events to celebrate the anniversary.
New Steam record for The Division 2
According to SteamDB, Ubisoft’s open-world shooter reached a peak of 27,482 concurrent players on Sunday evening, almost doubling the previous record.
However, many PC gamers are likely to play The Division 2 via Ubisoft’s in-house launcher, as the Steam release came four years after the game’s initial release. However, there are no player numbers available for this.
Incidentally, both parts of the series are currently on Steam at a 90 percent discount, and the DLCs are also being offered at a discount. The sale runs until March 12, 2026.
Anniversary event attracts players
Throughout March, players can take part in special activities in The Division 2. These include Ambush and Assault, which were previously only available in the first game.
There is also an Event Pass with free rewards and a paid premium upgrade. There are new weapons and equipment, as well as the opportunity to unlock outfits inspired by other Ubisoft games such as Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six Siege, and Ghost Recon.
Another highlight is the Realism Mode, which primarily affects the number of bullets an opponent can take. Instead of two magazines, you now need two cartridges, which of course also applies to you as a player.
Future plans
Ubisoft still has big plans for The Division 2. A new DLC called Rise Up is set to be released on April 1, 2026, in which players take on Black Tusk. Crossplay between PC and console will also finally be supported.
No exact date has been set yet, but Survivor mode is already playable in closed tests. This is an extraction mode that was already available in the first game.
