When will The Day Before be released, what is the gameplay like and what news is there? Find out all about it in our overview of the zombie game with impressive graphics.

The Day Before appeared out of nowhere at the beginning of the year – and left us stunned. Can a small Russian studio really conjure up such good graphics? Is what we saw in the trailer really real gameplay? Is this a big dream bubble or the next big survival hit?

We’re a bit smarter now, but The Day Before is still shrouded in a mysterious veil and a great deal of scepticism among the gaming community. We won’t know for sure until the game is released – but we’ve summarised all the known information, trailers and news about the zombie game for you here.

Release: When will The Day Before be released?

We probably won’t have to wait too much longer for the MMO. The Day Before is scheduled for release on Steam for PC on 21 June 2022.

The Day Before got a lot of attention with its first trailers earlier this year – because the graphics seemed too good to be true. After all, the game comes from a previously unknown studio.

Platforms: Will The Day Before also be released for PS5 and Xbox Series X?
The zombie game was originally announced for PC via Steam. In the meantime, however, versions for the next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X have also been confirmed.

Story: What is the setting about?

The Day Before relies on the good old zombie post-apocalypse. The USA has been hit by a pandemic that has turned numerous people into violence-prone zombies and we are right in the middle of it.

As a survivor, we travel the open world and have only one goal: not to be eaten or shot by other survivors. To do this, we go in search of safe colonies to catch our breath and ally ourselves with others.

Survival, open world, shooter gameplay: how does The Day Before play?

Survival: First of all, we fight off the hordes of zombies on our journey through the post-apocalyptic USA, which, according to the developers, should function as “realistically” as possible. So don’t be inhumanly fast or spray fountains of poison. In addition to the zombies, however, the humans also fight each other, because resources are scarce. We need warm clothes, food, crafting materials and ammunition – besides, serious injuries could be our undoing.

Weather System: Dynamic weather should also play a major role. Our clothing must protect us from approaching cold and storms and thunderstorms can make our survival hell.

Open World: The open world is supposed to be more varied than, for example, the very similar The Division. We explore forests, mountains, settlements and rural areas next to the abandoned city. For this purpose, we will also have various vehicles at our disposal.

You can see the whole thing in action in the latest long gameplay trailer:

MMO, PvE and PvP: How do we interact with other players?

The Day Before is an MMO, so we also meet other players with whom we can become allies or enemies. There is PvP everywhere in the world – that means we also compete for loot and can steal from each other. More detailed information on the PvP mode is still awaited at the moment.

What do you think about The Day Before? Are you still sceptical? Will you try it out on release? What are your hopes? Drop us a line in the comments
