TANUKI: Pon’s Summer will be released on November 10, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, PS4, Xbox, and PC. Players take on the role of Pon the Tanuki to deliver packages by BMX in order to restore a shrine.

According to the Steam listing and the release trailers from Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox, TANUKI: Pon’s Summer will be released on November 10, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox, and PC. This means the game from studio Denkiworks will launch on all four platform families on the same day—which is unusual for the debut of a small indie developer. The publisher is Critical Reflex, the studio behind the hit *Mouthwashing*.

The product page in the Nintendo eShop describes the concept: Players take on the role of Pon, a tanuki who delivers letters and packages, and have one month in the game to raise enough money to restore a shrine in time for the Great Tanuki Festival. Deliveries are made by BMX; packages vary in size, weight, and shape, so each delivery requires its own strategy.

Four Cities, Friendships, and Sushi

According to the eShop description, the game world consists of four cities modeled after Kyoto, Aomori, Sapporo, and Beppu, each with its own quests and objectives. Players who build friendships with the residents will be invited to participate in sports and activities that unlock items and rewards for the shrine renovation. In addition to delivering packages, the game features competitions and sushi-making, among other activities. The entire story unfolds over the course of a midsummer, at the end of which the festival takes place and the shrine must be completed.

What Switch 2 Players Should Know

According to the eShop listing, the Switch 2 version requires approximately 779 MB of storage and supports the touchscreen; cloud save for game progress requires a paid Nintendo Switch Online subscription. The game is strictly single-player and supports twelve languages, including German. No price has been listed yet on any of the reviewed store pages.

Background: The game was first shown as “Pon’s Summer” at the Tokyo Game Show 2024, followed by a demo in the Awesome Indies Showcase series at Gamescom 2026.
