The open world of Breakwaters is 360 square kilometres in size. As the trailer shows, you travel it almost exclusively by sailboat or steamboat. In the survival game you have to explore islands, farm food, collect raw materials and build fortresses during a realistic day-night change.

Your individually upgradeable sloop not only serves as your means of transport, but with a cannon you can also defend yourself against pirates in action-packed sea battles or go on a privateering expedition yourself.

Thanks to an innovative water display that lets you part the sea like Bible superhero Moses, you can also search the seabed for valuable crystals and metals, most of which are waiting for you in shipwrecks.

As if all that wasn’t exciting enough, there are also other players in online co-op mode and screen-filling Titans. The latter are powerful monsters that you can fight in a similar way to the bosses in Valheim to unlock new building options such as the flying glider.

Breakwaters will be released on 11 November on (Steam Early Access). You can find a review soon on GlobalESportNews,
