The open-world survival game Scum has finally revealed its official release date after seven years in early access.

After almost seven years in early access, the open-world survival game Scum finally has an official release date for version 1.0! During the Summer Game Fest, the developers announced the good news with a raunchy trailer. Starting on June 17, 2025, you can look forward to new content and major improvements.
Here’s what’s in version 1.0

Scum has built up a loyal community since its early access launch on August 29, 2018. The mix of survival, crafting, open world, and dystopian reality TV setting has attracted millions of players over the years.

The developers have already announced a number of new features for the launch. Among other things, you can look forward to:

  • Dropships
  • New vehicles and improved NPCs
  • Optimized AI
  • Missions and quests – including rumors of a way to escape the island
  • Expanded base building

If you’ve never heard of the game before: Despite stiff competition from titles such as Rust, Scum has established itself in the survival scene. Over 2 million copies sold and an estimated revenue of $39 million speak for themselves.

On Steam, the title has received aMostly Positive rating from more than 88,000 user reviews. At its peak, 68,000 players were simultaneously on the servers, and Scum currently has around 14,000 active players per day.

With the release of version 1.0, this player record could soon be broken again.

Even after the launch of version 1.0, Scum remains in development. Developer Gamepires has already announced that new features and improvements will continue to be added to the game on a regular basis. The community will remain closely involved as before.

So mark June 17, 2025, in your calendars and buckle up, because the island is calling! Have you already played Scum and will you be checking it out again? Let us know in the comments section.
