On this year’s MAR10 Day, Nintendo has made a big announcement via social media. In two years, the sequel to the Super Mario Bros. movie will be released in cinemas

The Super Mario Bros. movie released last spring was a success in more ways than one. Not only did it delight fans worldwide. It also broke two records on its premiere weekend. We have the exact figures for you here.
Accordingly, the question was not whether a sequel would be released, but rather when this would be the case.

Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto gave an answer to this on MAR10 Day yesterday. As he announced in a video message and in text form they are currently working with Illumantion on the sequel to the Super Mario Bros. movie. A release is already planned for April 3, 2026 in the USA and other countries and territories. As the first part was released at the same time in the USA and Germany, we could also look forward to a correspondingly early cinema release for part 2.

We will provide you with further information as soon as we are ready. Illumination and Nintendo are working together again this time. We want to expand Mario’s world and it will be a happy and funny story. We hope you’re looking forward to it!”, Miyamoto concludes his announcement. If there is more information about the sequel in the coming months, we will keep you up to date accordingly. Further insights into Super Mario Bros
