The streamer sent offensive messages to an underage person, as he himself now admits. Now the developer studio Midnight Society is also parting ways with him.

Update from June 25, 9 pm:In the meantime, the streamer Dr Disrespect has spoken out on X (formerly Twitter) and confirmed the allegations made against him. Offensive private messages to an underage person were indeed the reason why he was banned from Twitch in 2020.He also admits that he “leaned too far in an inappropriate direction” and takes responsibility for this as an “adult, husband and father”.

The messages were sent in 2017 and the case was resolved in civil proceedings, a criminal case did not exist. You can read the entire statement here:

Original message: The well-known streamer Dr Disrespect (real name Hershel Beahm) was banned from Twitch in 2020. He stated that he did not know the reasons and the company did not publish a reason. Now a former Twitch employee has spoken out to The Vergewho wished to remain anonymous.

According to him,the reason for the ban was offensive messages, which the streamer is said to have sent to a minor. He also allegedly tried to get her to meet him in person at TwitchCon

Another former Twitch employee, Cody Connors, had already posted the same information on X (formerly Twitter) on June 22:

Our own development studio is also parting ways

Now the development studio Midnight Society, which Beahm had co-founded, alsoannounced, that they were parting ways with him because of the allegations:

On Friday evening, we learned of an allegation against one of our co-founders, Guy Beahm aka Dr. Disrespect.

We assumed his innocence and began speaking with the parties involved. To uphold our principles and standards as a studio and as individuals, we had to act.

For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm with immediate effect.

Although these facts are hard to hear and even harder to accept, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of all involved, especially the 55 developers and families we employ along with our player community.

The streamer himself has not explicitly denied the allegations, but claims in a post on X that no misconduct has been proven against him. He could not comment further for legal reasons

I did nothing wrong, all this was checked and clarified, nothing illegal, no misconduct was found and I was paid out.

The developer studio Midnight Society was founded in 2021 and is working on Deadrop, which is set to be a competitive multiplayer shooter. It is based on Unreal Engine 5 and is set to be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A release date has not yet been set. It is also not yet known whether the separation from Beahm will have any impact
