New clues about the release date of Starfield: According to an industry insider, it should be this summer!
When exactly Starfield will be released is still not clear. Most recently there was a lot of confusion because the release date on Steam was changed from 2023 to Coming Soon – luckily this was just a new Steam feature!
According to Microsoft, the release will still take place as planned in 2023, (the official website) speaks of the first half of 2023
A well-known industry insider now reveals that it could be just in time for the beginning of summer.
New hints of June release
Journalist Jez Corden is the editor-in-chief of Windows Central. The website, as the name might suggest, is well connected to Microsoft – and therefore Xbox. In the latest episode of his podcast Xbox Two, the industry insider now commits to a June 2023 release:
You hear about it a lot. Many people think that Starfield’s launch date might be related to International Manned Spaceflight Day. My guess is that Starfield will be released in June. That’s my prediction, even though the game may not be released until after June. My latest information suggests that it will be released in June.
This dashes the hopes of many fans that Starfield could be surprisingly released on International Manned Spaceflight Day, which is April 12. At least if he does indeed have secret information, as he implies in the last sentence.
But there are more hints of a June release: Recently, the launcher GOG Galaxy had given a date of June 29, 2023:

The date has since been removed. It is currently impossible to say when Starfield will finally be released. With Redfall, another big Xbox release is coming up in mid-May, so a late June release would make perfect sense.
Sometime in the spring, a special event for Starfield is supposed to take place, where we might learn more about the date. It’s also conceivable that Todd Howard could take the stage during E3 or Summer Game Fest, both of which take place in mid-June 2023, and surprise fans with an imminent release.
