Marvel”s Spider-Man 2, AC Mirage, Snake Eater and Marathon: we present our highlights of the Playstation Showcase and what else you should know about it.

The big Sony show in May 2023 is over and in the wake of the latest Playstation Showcase there was more than 60 minutes of a crammed load of games and trailers. To make sure you don”t lose track of all the announcements, we”ve collected our five big highlights for you, plus what else you can”t afford to miss.

So let”s not waste any time, let”s get down to the nitty gritty:

The 5 highlights of the PS5 showcase in May 2023

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

  • Release: Unknown
  • Platforms: PC, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S

SNAAAAAAAKE is back! Not with a new game, but in a remake of Hideo Kojima”s classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. While concrete gameplay is still waiting, there is at least an announcement trailer with a usual grim looking Snake.
By the way, the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will not be released exclusively for the Playstation 5, but also for PC and Xbox Series X/S. We do know a release date, though. However, we do not yet know a release date. Previously, there were already numerous rumours about a new edition of the action adventure game.

By the way: Why the Snake Eater remake comes with a delta in the title, we can”t really answer at the moment. The game was originally the third part of the Metal Gear Solid series, but Delta is actually the fourth letter in the Greek alphabet. Well.

    Assassin”s Creed: Mirage

    • Release: October 12, 2023
    • Platforms: PC, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and Xbox One

Finally real gameplay for Mirage! The return of Basim after his appearance 20 years later in Valhalla was already known, now we have a concrete impression of how his adventure will play out in the streets of Baghdad. And this is not only visually reminiscent of the good old Assassin”s Creed parts, but also seems to be strongly oriented to them in terms of gameplay.
We now also know the release date of the Ubisoft game: Assassin”s Creed: Mirage will be released on 12 October 2023 for PC and consoles. So we don”t have to wait too much longer.

      Marvel”s Spider-Man 2

      • Release: Autumn 2023
      • Platforms: Exclusively for Playstation 5

And also for Marvel”s Spider-Man 2 there is an even more detailed gameplay trailer, which even gives us some insights into the story: The familiar Marvel villain Kraven the Hunter makes New York his hunting ground and is not only targeting heroes like Spider-Man Peter Parker and Miles Morales, but also their counterparts such as The Lizard.

All the better(?) that Peter is now in his rather powerful and just a bit scary looking Venom suit which apparently has OBVIOUSLY NO negative effect on his personality. If there isn”t a conflict brewing between him and Miles.

There is no concrete release date yet – all we know is that Marvel”s Spider-Man 2 will be released exclusively for Playstation 5 in autumn 2023. But you can already expect gameplay news like a wingsuit or quasi-surfing mechanics. Of course, Miles and Peter have also learned a few new tricks for fighting and sneaking around.

      Marathon

      • Release: Unknown
      • Platforms: PC, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S

Yes, there”s another PvP extraction shooter .. but this time from Halo and Destiny developers Bungie! Ultimately, this means: You will fight with other players for valuable loot, but you must also manage to bring your loot home safely. Marathon takes you to a distant future and the distant planet Tau Ceti IV.

By the way, Marathon is not a completely new brand: In the 90s, there were already a handful of shooters with the same name that Bungie was also involved in developing. So the announcement of the new Extraction shooter is ultimately a revival of a well-known brand.

        Alan Wake 2

        • Release: 17 October 2023
        • Platforms: PC, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S

Don”t worry: To get into Alan Wake 2 you don”t have to have any previous knowledge of the predecessor. If you haven”t played the predecessor(s) yet, you theoretically have enough time until the release on 17 October 2023 to catch up.

We couldn”t blame you if you”ve developed an appetite for the horror-crime series, the sequel to which we can now see some concrete gameplay for the first time. After all, Alan Wake 2 definitely makes a promising atmospheric impression and we can”t help but think a little of Resident Evil when watching the game scenes.

By the way, in the sequel we not only play Alan Wake himself, but also an FBI agent who has a reputation for – well – solving unsolvable cases. Alan Wake 2 not only focuses on horror, but also on survival elements. What that means in concrete terms, however, remains to be seen.

          Any further announcements
