For about two months, players have been exploring the deserts of Arrakis in Dune: Awakening. And the sense of community in the game is apparently strong.
How well do you get along with your neighbors? Do you nod to each other in a friendly manner, can’t stand each other, or do you host barbecues together? Ben has a very friendly neighbor to be happy about.
Who is Ben?
you may be wondering, but the more important question is: Where is Ben?
Ben plays Dune: Awakening. And in the new MMO, Ben has a neighbor.
He mobilized the entire community of the survival game and its developers to deliver an important message to Ben.
Ben, the power is out at your guild base, the large Harkonnen base on the eastern shield wall. This short Reddit post by Contrador kept many Dune: Awakening players busy for days and became a running joke, which of course was also turned into memes. But there is also a heartwarming story behind it.
The community: this game is toxic! Meanwhile this reddit:

Like Contrador, the creator of the post reported, meeting Ben was something special for him. After bumping into his neighbor several times and helping each other out, a kind of friendship apparently developed. For the first time ever, Contrador used voice chat in a game and bought a microphone especially for it.
Then one day, Ben disappeared and his base had no power. In Dune: Awakening, a base needs power to operate its shield, which protects it from storms and enemy attacks.
Hoping to reach Ben, Contrador wrote his message on Reddit, but feared that Ben had simply stopped playing.
A happy ending
The call for Ben eventually spread so far and wide that the developers got involved. In the patch notes for the latest update they also placed a message for Ben in a prominent place.
And indeed, the efforts of fans and developers were ultimately successful. Contrador announced on Reddit that Ben was back and his base had power again. Ben himself also posted a message.
So Ben, his base, and his neighbor are reunited, and the community is happy. Apart from that, however, Dune: Awakening still has problems to contend with.
The Steam reviews have dropped since the release, as many issues remain or are only now becoming apparent. These include the endgame, which many players find unsatisfying, bugs and glitches that sometimes undo hard-won progress.
