A day off for Grand Theft Auto 6? What sounds like pure wishful thinking is now being implemented by one company for its entire workforce.
GTA 6is set to be released on November 19, 2026. It’s actually just a normal Thursday—and therefore a workday for most people—something that many gaming fans are likely to struggle with, especially if they can’t take time off.
However, the company Burger Motorsports has apparently realized that many of its employees are getting restless in anticipation, so they decided on the spot todeclare GTA 6 a cultural event. As a result, the entire company will have the day off, as reported by the news sitePubity on X.
Breaking News: The pre-order date for GTA 6 has now been set. Starting next week, you’ll be able to pre-order Grand Theft Auto 6 for consoles!
Everyone gets the day off to play GTA 6
An entire company is shutting down operations on GTA 6 release day because so many people called in sick.

The X post shows an internal memo dated June 11 addressed to Burger Motorsports employees and partners. It explains that the company has noticed numerous scheduling conflicts on November 19. Since some employees apparently reported that they would be unavailable that day or simplyin Vice City
, the company is now taking decisive action and handling the whole situation with a sense of humor.
That’s why everyone gets the day off as a small gesture of goodwill.Work will resume as usual as soon as the employeeshave completed their first exploratory tour or at least one mission and are slowly returning to reality

Is a game release becoming a holiday?
But the comments on X don’t just see this as a concession to employees. For example, iGrandTheftAuto.com writes:
A clever marketing stunt. They’ve definitely gotten the attention they were looking for with this. But what’s the point of one day? If I were an employee, I wouldn’t come back until I’d reached 100 percent.
Others see it as far less cynical and take the absurd situation with just as much humor as the company does. User Duba, for example, comments:
If this keeps up, GTA 6 will be treated like a holiday.
JohnFallout takes a similar view in his comment:
In 100 years, they’ll be studying the impact GTA 6 had on our society.
Of course, one day is nowhere near enough to play through GTA 6. But maybe this little teaser will help most people make it through Friday and into the weekend, when the real fun can begin. In any case, it’s a charming gesture that has garnered nearly 5,000 likes on X so far. Will you take the day off for the GTA 6 release, or will you stick it out until the end of the workday? Let us know in the comments!
If the launch of GTA 6 gets pushed back again, however, that could cause chaos and lead to canceled vacations. Phil already wrote about this when the last planned release date came up.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is, as the name suggests, the sixth main installment in Rockstar’s popular action series. A first trailer was finally unveiled in 2023, and now, in 2026, we’re finally in the home stretch before GTA 6 is set to be released on November 19—initially only for consoles, with the PC version following a bit later.
The new installment will be set in Vice City, which is modeled after real-life Miami. As is typical for the series, you’ll be stealing cars and organizing heists again, but of course you’ll also be able to shoot, explore, and generally get up to all sorts of mischief in this satirical open-world action game. You’ll control a gangster couple—and, for the first time, a female protagonist.
