This is what happens when you have a bounty of 2,015,212,288 gold on your head in Oblivion Remastered.

Such long prison sentences are usually only seen in the US, but in Tamriel, too, the penalties for multiple offenses are apparently added together. So if you’re not careful with your misdeeds in Oblivion Remastered, your next stay in jail could be longer than you thought. One player is facing more than 55,000 years in prison, but he has committed surprisingly little to earn it.

“Locked up until the next Kalpa”

On Reddit, u/Scribe_Of_Satire posted the list of offenses that landed him this colossal prison sentence. In total, the aspiring champion of Cyrodiil will have to serve 20,178,790 days. “To anyone wondering what happens when you go to jail with a bounty of over 2 billion: Here you go!”

However, the crimes he is accused of do not include murder or assault – not even trespassing is on the list. Instead, Scribe_Of_Satire has focused primarily on theft. More than a million items have found their way into his possession. This earned him a combined bounty of 2,015,212,288 gold.

Apparently, such a long prison sentence is not planned. In the second screenshot, the player shows the date of his release: it is the year -9,818 in the Third Era of Tamriel Time has been turned back so far that the player has been transported to a non-existent era. A quick reminder: Oblivion is actually set in the year 3E 433.

The unfortunate aspect of being incarcerated is not only the time lost (or gained?), but also the degradation of skills. While incarcerated, a random skill loses one point each day. According to a comment, however, this is limited to a maximum value of 10 levels. Scribe_Of_Satire was lucky there.

But jail isn’t the only extended pastime in Oblivion Remastered. Another player, for example, has cast a paralysis spell on himself that will knock him out for 66 years. Another player went in the opposite direction with a mixture of athletics and sorcery, who can only smile wearily at fast travel mechanics. You can read more about these stories above.
