The penultimate week of March 2024 has it all! There are some really big releases on Steam, including an impressive open-world blockbuster

Spring is here, the first lederhosen are already staggering dangerously close to the banks of the Isar here in Munich and spring business 2024 is now also in full swing in the (much less life-threatening) world of video games.

Some really big blockbusters are being released on Steam this week, but there are also at least two insider tips under the radar that we want to share with you. So without further ado, let’s get started.

Highlight of the week: Dragon’s Dogma 2

  • Genre: Role-playing game
  • Developer: Capcom
  • Release: March 22, 2024

Most of the role-playing game fans here at the editorial office have the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2 marked on their calendars, because Capcom’s role-playing epic could really be big. It inherits all the strengths of its now twelve-year-old predecessor: a deadly open world in which your fantasy avatar can bite the dust around every corner – all Gothic senses are on fire.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 relies on a very rough combat system that doesn’t take you by the hand, but rewards daring and the right strategy. It has one of those open worlds where you actually want to follow the main story, but then lose yourself for eight hours in side quests because there’s something to see around the next corner that takes up your attention.

Our first impressions of Dragon’s Dogma 2 are pretty positive. If you’ve got the patience to take a full pounding in a role-playing game and have to find the solution to a problem completely on your own, then you can expect a very unique experience here.

    More exciting releases

Of course, the week isn’t just about Dragon’s Dogma 2 – the competition never sleeps. For example, Sony is finally bringing Horizon: Forbidden West to the PC. Let’s go through the days

    Tuesday, March 19, 2024

    • Lightyear Frontier: This game is fully in line with current trends. In a mix of farming, survival and open-world exploration, you build your very own base on a distant planet, including co-op for three people. And mechs! Mechs are always good.

      • Alone in the Dark finally returns after more than 15 years, but remains true to its original survival horror strengths. As Edward or Emily, you explore a spooky estate. We don’t want to give any more away.

      Thursday, March 21, 2024

      • Horizon: Forbidden West is the second part of the post-apocalyptic open-world epic about the tough-as-nails Aloy and her fight against Robodinos and other dangers. The Complete Edition includes all DLCs from the PS5 version.

        Friday, March 22, 2024

        • Dragon’s Dogma 2: As already mentioned, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is primarily aimed at tolerant role-playing game fans who are up for a really dangerous open world.

        • Terratech Worlds: Another little insider tip that you should at least keep on your radar. Here you explore alien planets in a rover and fight for survival.

          More releases in March 2024

If nothing knocks your socks off this week, it’s always worth taking a look at our monthly preview as an alternative. Are you looking forward to Dragon’s Dogma 2? Or are you waiting to see how the game develops? Let us know in the comments, as we can’t yet say for sure how big the game will ultimately be. This week also sees the release of Real Estate Manager, in case you want to sell off apartments.
